In a context where the economy is rapidly growing and the population is set to nearly double by 2040, the UAE’s increasing demand for energy has become a central focus for the government and local authorities.
Given the country’s commitment to the objectives of the Paris Agreement, and driving ambition to reach net zero within the next 25 years, The “UAE Energy Strategy 2050” was launched to pave the way towards a green low-carbon transition.
With the aim of improving energy efficiency, expanding the use of renewable energy sources and ultimately reducing carbon emissions, the UAE has partnered with several companies and market players in the energy sector.
One of their most recent partners is Yellow Door Energy – founded in 2015 in the UAE, Yellow Door Energy’s goal is to provide solar-powered sustainable alternatives for commercial and industrial businesses in MENA, to help them cut back on energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

For instance, the American School of Dubai, the Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai, and the Ritaj residential complex in Dubai Investments Park have all transitioned to solar energy, with the help of YSD.
Even though the company only employs close to 200 people, its thoughtful HR policies and unique work culture have made it rank among LinkedIn’s top startups to work for in the UAE, in 2021.
The most notable internal policy that Yellow Door Energy has established for employees is a no clock-in, clock-out culture – in other words, employees are free to make their own schedule and enjoy flexible working hours. By choosing not to micromanage their team members and granting them the freedom and trust they need to perform at the best of their abilities, YSD’s growth has surged in the last few years.
An equally significant benefit of being a Yellow Door Energy employee is having a two-week paternity leave, an extended maternity leave, compassionate leave and awards ceremonies where they are recognized for their accomplishments, integrity and professionalism.
To keep employees engaged and involved in all matters relating to the company’s operations, the energy leader holds a global All Hands meeting every month and organizes regular team-building activities around fun, fitness and wellbeing.
In September 2024, Yellow Door Energy has also introduced an integrity line, offering everyone a confidential platform to report unethical conduct and behavior – thus, reaffirming their commitment to creating a work environment based on transparency, and responsible practices.

Through making their employees feel valued, appreciated, and recognized for their work, Yellow Door Energy proves yet again that employee satisfaction is a key factor in a company’s success. During last year’s “Solar Week UAE Leadership Awards”, YSD has won Solar Company of the Year, Best Solar Project of the Year, in addition to Excellence in Solar Project Management award.
